Vegan restaurant next to Tom Unlock iPhone Store. Has an extensive menu with English and some photos. Options include phat thai, papaya salad and smoothies. Owner speaks English.

VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT

A small, clean vegetarian restaurant opened in late 2015. Offers a daily lunch buffet, as well as made to order dishes. The cuisine focus is vegetarian versions of common Laos food with some vegan options. Mushroom larb, papaya salad, and many noodle dishes are just some of the dishes. The owners are strict vegetarians and friendly and are able to accommodate any special requests you may have.

REUNION CAFE

Small vegan restaurant. Has an extensive menu with English and some food photos. Includes curries, papaya salad, juices and smoothies. Owner speaks English and French. Direction: go west along Samsenthai, cross Khun BuLom on your right is Somkiat vehicle part with an ad for Bridgestone, turn right up the narrow street immediately after the sign. after 100m you will come to 2 restaurants displaying yellow vegan banners. Reunion is on your right, on your left is Phounsub Restaurant

HAN AHAAN J

All-you-can-eat buffet restaurant offering a large selection of vegan dishes consisting of salad items, noodles, and cooked vegetables served with rice. Located 50 meters directly south of Wat Sisavad temple, on the right.

VEGETARIAN FOOD BUFFET

Offers vegan versions of typical Lao food. Usually includes at least six or seven offerings. Some packaged products contain dairy, but all in-house food is vegan.

GOOD

Local Laos vegan food with a twist. Western options based on pop-up menu and local, daily market selections. Occasionally open for special event dinners

AGROASIE

Small health food store located next to Vat Chanh, close to Fa Ngum Quay. Has vegan items. This place is small but centrally located on one of the main roads leading to the night market. Sells fresh veggies and a few snack foods as well as just-add-water soups and personal care items.

VEGETARIAN IN THE GOLDEN AGE

Vegetarian Buddhist restaurant serving Asian and western food with mock meats. Nice and clean. Owners speak basic English and meals are sizable. Buffet served from 11am-2pm daily. The only place outside Vietnam found serving typical western pho style meals, vermicelli with tofu, sprouts, shredded carrots, cucumber, herbs and mock fish sauce, and spring rolls with peanut sauce. Also offers fruit shakes, various seasoned vegetables, and appetizers, soups.

I talked to both a Vietnamese and Lao staff and they assured me that the prepared food is vegan and does not contain eggs or milk, but there are still a few items on the menu that might be suspect. I came in the evening and had three different items, all of which were great. I needed at least two to fill me up. They also have non-alcoholic beer The buffet is at lunch time and currently starts as early as 10:30am.

COCO&CO.

European style coffee cafe serving waffles, meals, desserts, and beverages. Has vegan lunch food, desserts and drinks. Free Wi-Fi.

ALI BACKPACKERS

Hostel offering guests complimentary vegan breakfast at 8-9:30 am. Take what you'd like approach: find foods like fried rice with vegetables, pumpkin soup, cabbage salad, french potato, noodles, fried and fresh bananas.

KHOUADIN VEGETARIAN

Aka Kwadin Restaurant. Offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet of vegan Laotian food (no a la carte): rice, noodles, soup, steam buns, a variety of vegetables and faux meat dishes (10 or so). Could get individual items to take away from the buffet. For a larger variety, it's best to arrive after 10am. Directions: look for the basket shop, and head down the adjacent alley that leads into Khua Din Market, walk for 50m, and restaurant is on the left opposite food stalls and a car park. Has a yellow 'Chay' sign. If still not sure where it is, ask for "kin jay" (eat vegetarian).

Souliphone Coffee offers Laotian coffee and a variety of vegan dishes to order. Provides 100% vegan alternatives of meatballs, pork fried eggs and more.

AHAN JAY

Standard Thai Jay all-vegan restaurant serving buffet style/point and choose dishes. Seating is in a covered outdoor area that is well shaded. The location is 1/2 block from the marker walking away from the river towards the main road

TAO GUESTHOUSE

Simple guesthouse with riverside bungalows. Makes some vegetarian and vegan versions of Lao traditional dishes using local produce. Complimentary organic coffee and herbal tea for guests.

Thai 'jay' (vegan) restaurant that serves a large variety of local Thai dishes, including mock prawns and other mock meats and even traditional Thai larb. Also serves noodles, rice and a selection of vegetable dishes along with bowls of soup and fresh, raw vegetables. Also has a small shop area with desserts, snacks and packet noodles

VEGETARIAN

Vegan restaurant serving noodle soup, between 8-10 dishes, lots of tofu and a few mock meats. Snacks and drinks are also available.

Restaurant was easy to find, lots of food to choose from, staff speak English apart from the young boy. They use microwave to heat up the food if it’s gone warm/cold. Can order noodle soup or a rice dish, free drinking water. Sells Thai desserts and juices too. Very cheap. 40 baht for noodle soup.

KRUA SUKAPAP KWAN YIN

Vegan restaurant serves a variety of Thai and Chinese dishes, including gwiteow and some sweet items. Located southwest of the intersection with Phosi Rd, take the second sub-soi on the right, shop is on the corner 100 meters on the right side.

Small cozy vegan restaurant with wooden tables. Owner is also the cook.

Bicycle vendor selling vegan burgers at the exit of Macro. The buns are baked with a mixture of whole wheat and bread flour. Patties are from a company which specializes in vegan mock meat. BAN BUN PHO JAE

Busy lunchtime restaurant serving prepared food. Includes noodle soups, dumplings, wraps, and food to order. Typical Thai vegetarian place with several tables in a narrow shop front, located in center of the city.

JAY IM BUUN

Typical Thai vegetarian place with precooked food in trays. Also has hot noodle soup. Located in downtown area.

Technically, this is a Jay food restaurant, and Jay food uses oyster sauce so is not vegan nor vegetarian
